Self Assessment

Self Assessment without the annual puzzle after a long season.

Personal tax returns should be organised, not assembled in January under pressure. We prepare Self Assessment returns for hospitality directors, landlords, sole traders and other individuals — calculating income, considering allowable expenses and supporting HMRC filing.

The pressure point

Personal tax becomes messy when information is scattered across the site and home.

  • 01Directors unsure how salary, dividends and benefits should be reported
  • 02Sole trader café and takeaway owners mixing personal and business spending
  • 03Uncertainty about what expenses are allowable
  • 04Records sitting in tills, personal accounts and a box of statements
  • 05The 31 January deadline arriving before the records feel ready

Included

What Self Assessment support includes

Each engagement is scoped to the restaurant or bar. The items below are the core of the service; we will tell you plainly if something sits outside it.

  • Self Assessment tax returns

The SA100 and relevant supplementary pages prepared from your information.

  • Income calculations

Employment, dividends, self-employment, property and other income brought together in one return.

  • Allowable expense guidance

Help identifying expenses that may be claimed, based on your circumstances and HMRC rules — not stretched interpretations.

  • Tax liability calculations

A clear computation of the tax due, payments on account and, where relevant, student loan or other deductions.

  • HMRC filing support

The return submitted to HMRC once you have reviewed and approved it.

  • Deadline management

The key Self Assessment dates tracked so filing and payment are planned around the trading year.

How it works

A clear process, without unnecessary steps.

01

We gather the year’s information with you

A structured list of what we need, rather than an open-ended request for “everything” from the site.

02

We prepare the return and explain the tax

You see a draft computation and the figures that will be filed. Questions are easier to ask at this point than after submission.

03

We file and note the next dates

Once approved, the return is submitted. Payment dates and the following year’s planning are set out clearly.

Benefits

What this changes in the business.

  • A return prepared from a complete picture of your income
  • Less time spent interpreting HMRC forms yourself
  • A tax figure you can plan to pay
  • Personal and company tax considered together where you are a hospitality director

Who it is for

Directors of restaurant and bar companies, sole traders in food and beverage, contractors, landlords and other individuals who need to file a UK Self Assessment return.

F&B example

How this looks in a restaurant or bar.

Quality-control and review

Work is prepared, reviewed and only then released. Senior review is part of the process for accounts, VAT, payroll and tax filings. You approve statutory and tax submissions before they go to Companies House or HMRC.

Questions

Self Assessment — frequently asked.

Many people do, including most company directors, sole traders, partners, landlords and anyone HMRC has asked to register. If you are unsure, we can help you check rather than assuming you must or must not file.

Online returns are normally due by 31 January following the end of the tax year. Tax outstanding for the year is usually due the same day, and payments on account may also apply. Paper filing, where used, is earlier.

Yes, once you have approved it and any necessary authorisation is in place. We do not submit a return you have not reviewed.
